An exhibition of Belarusian costumes has opened in the Museum in Ciechanowiec. The author of historical and traditional clothing is Kaciaryna Vadanosava, a journalist and cultural activist, who emphasizes that each costume is not only a work of art, but also the result of scientific research.
“Belarusian culture is very close to us, because in our Skansen we have East Podlaskie houses, very similar to Belarusian ones, in which we show that part of Polish culture that is relevant here in Podlaskie,” said Anna Wisniewska, vice director of the Museum in Ciechanowiec.
“By chance, my friend found a whole bunch of fabrics in a landfill. He called me. I came and selected what seemed to me to be a natural fabric. I checked at home. It turned out to be white wool. And I have a 14th-century formation and a traditional women’s winter retinue sewn from this white wool. I am most proud of the fact that the exhibition has arisen. Let this exhibition be such a general result of my work over the past few years,” Kaciaryna Vadanosava said.
The exhibition is organized by the Museum in Ciechanowiec, as well as the Center of Belarusian Culture in Bialystok.
