In Bialystok, the foundation “In a Good Tone” hosted the premiere of two performances based on Volha Vialichka’s book “My Mother in a Prison”. In total, almost one and a half hundred people attended the theatrical performances.
“This is my first book in which I acted as an author. I mean, it would be very nice if at least something that sounds in this book were fictional. But all those words, all those dreams, all those dreams that are mentioned in the book and that children play are the real things that our Belarusian children go through together with us, adults, in order to gain freedom and independence for our country,” Volha Vialichka says about the performance..
According to Volha, Belarusian children felt very strongly about the repression of 2020 and they will also be heard reflected in this book.
“Belarusian children who saw the protests, who were plunged into the pain, the injustice that is associated with the fact that their parents were taken away. They feel the injustice of the world, the injustice that touched their childhood. A lot of children talk about it in their own words, with their own understanding,” she says.
The play will be shown in Warsaw, and it will also be shown outside Poland, and in which cities and countries Volha Vialichka is still keeping a secret.
