BIT: Belarusian theatrical figures are in little demand in Poland

The Belarusian Institute of Theater (BIT) has organized another online meeting on the topic “On theater education in Belarus. What the theater for?” The participants also did not ignore the acute issue of employment of theatrical figures in exile, including Poland.

“Of course, there is a shortage of demand on the Polish side. There was only one offer to participate in the dramatic revolution from the Polish side. There is no Polish, there is a demand for local Belarusian communities. They are interested in either children’s theater education, or teenage, or for adults. And there are proposals here, but not such systemic ones,” says theater teacher, director, actor Andrei Sauchanka.

“I talked to my Polish colleagues, and they said that you practically do not talk about yourself, about how you see Poland while in Poland, what you face, what problems. I would like it to be not only the audience – Belarusians and Ukrainians, but also Poles and Germans,” said theatrical activist Sviatlana Maroz.

The Belarusian Institute of Theatre is a community of independent Belarusian theatre professionals. The initiative conducts projects to promote, educate and archive theatrical activities, and holds monthly online meetings where the Belarusian theater in its dynamics and diversity is discussed.
