International Festival of Photography has begun in Bialystok

The opening ceremony of the INTERPHOTO 2024 International Festival of Photography took place on the campus of the University in Bialystok. More than 200 photo artists from Belarus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine and other countries of Europe and the world are taking part in this festival.

The participants from Belarus were introduced by the director of the festival Grzegorz Jarmocewicz. “Whenever possible, when we hold a festival, we show photos from neighboring countries. There is always a representative of Belarus, and this time too. This is Maxim Sarychau. But in addition, we have an exhibition that tells about the modern history of Belarus. About what is happening to people who have to emigrate, run away from a regime country. This exhibition was created by Piotr Wujcik and Iryna Arakhouskaya. This topic related to Belarus is also very important for us and close to our hearts,” he said.

The Interphoto Festival has been operating as a biennial since 2013, with an emphasis on socio-historical issues in Poland and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. This year, projects by artists from all over the world will be presented at the Grand Prix in Bialystok, 10 of them will take part in the final exhibition. The photo festival is supported by Podlaskie voivodeship.
