Podlasie will honor the memory of the heroes of the 1863 uprising

The Historical Reconstruction Club “Invictus 1863”, created by Belarusians in Bialystok, will actively participate in the celebration of the 162nd anniversary of the 1863 uprising in Podlasie, or known in Poland as the January Uprising.

The commemorative celebrations began on January 21 in Choroszcz.

“We are planning a number of rather serious events here in Bialystok and the surrounding area. The first thing I can say is that on January 22nd, the day of the uprising explosion, we will participate in honoring the memory of the rebels in Choroszcz. Because there are no events at the city government level in Bialystok, and a big event is taking place in Choroszcz with the laying of flowers and wreaths on the grave of the rebels, as it is known that there was the only rebel group close to Bialystok, which operated almost until the middle of 1863,” said the head of the initiative and cultural figure Vasil Kalach.
