Another museum is being created in Hajnowka – The Podlaska Gallery of Sculptures Made of Wood. Sculptural plein-airs have been held here for many years.
There has long been a need to demonstrate the results of those masters’ works somewhere, says Wiktor Kabac, a Belarusian artist from Podlasie.
“Next year there will be 22 open-air carving in Hajnowka, it took place back in the days of the People’s Republic of Poland. And we, the carvers, are trying to make a Podlaska Gallery of Sculptures Made of Wood in Hajnowka, as there is already a huge tradition. We got a hectare of land. And there are already 12 interesting sites of the monastery there,” he noted.
Hajnowka is known for its unique Belarusian museum, which also houses many wooden sculptures, both by local creators and craftsmen from Belarus.
