The publishing house Polackija Labirynty, which now publishes Belarusian books in Poland, has published the second edition of the complete translation of Homer’s epic poem “Iliad”, reports bellit.info.
Translator Lyavon Barshcheuski, who completed the translation in 128 days, revised and corrected the text, clarified the comments.
The mythological and heroic epic “Iliad”, the creation of which, around the middle of the 8 th century BC, attributed to the semi-legendary Greek songwriter Homer, and the recording was first made two centuries later, became the property not only of the fine literature of Ancient Greece.
Thanks to translations into a large number of languages of the world, the work has taken an honorable place in the treasury of world literature. The plot of the poem is based on an episode of the Trojan War, which, according to most modern historians, could have taken place at the turn of the 13th and 12th centuries BC.
The first edition in two books was published in the Minsk publishing house “Encyclopediks” in April and June 2024. Now the full text of the Iliad, together with the comments placed in footnotes, dictionaries, and a list of additional sources, has been compiled into one hardcover book.
The book can already be purchased through Allegro.pl at a special price. In October, the price will rise, and the mass sale will begin at the PRADMOVA festival.
