The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw has taken an important step for the Belarusian community by returning an audio guide in the Belarusian language.
This became possible thanks to the support of the ArtPowerBelarus grant program of the Belarusian Council of Culture. The project was implemented with the participation of translator, writer and researcher of Belarusian history Siarhei Shupa, who became the “voice” of the audio guide.
“This museum presents the history of Jews not only in Poland today, but also historically, throughout history, and sometimes all the Belarusian lands. That is why the history of those centuries, the history of Belarusian Jews, is also reflected in this museum. There are many Belarusians in Poland now, including in Warsaw. These are Belarusians who go to museums and are interested in history. And when they come to this museum, they will have an excuse, an audio guide that makes this museum even more Belarusian,” said Siarhei Shupa.
According to him, the return of the Belarusian-language audio guide to the POLIN Museum became possible after the termination of cooperation with the Belarusian Embassy, which funded the previous project. The POLIN Museum continues to expand opportunities for Belarusians by creating a memory space that unites Belarusian, Polish and Jewish heritage.
