The BPR Rada has issued postage stamps for the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykau

The Rada of the Belarusian People Republic (BPR) proposed declaring 2024 the Year of Vasil Bykau, whose 100th anniversary Belarusians will celebrate on June 19. By this date, the BPR Rada, after a 70-year break, resumed the tradition of issuing postage stamps. The first one is dedicated to Vasil Bykau.

“A few days ago, the BPR Rada in Prague issued a postage stamp dedicated to Vasil Bykau. The Skorina community of Belarusians will publish a book in Prague “Bykau 100″, which will include 100 selected quotes by Vasil Bykau. And the Diaspora has all the possibilities,” says Deputy Chairman of the BPR Rada, journalist Siarhei Navumchyk.

On June 19, an event is planned in Bialystok, where historian Uladzimir Arlou will speak. According to Siarhei Navumchyk, events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Bykau will also be held in Warsaw, Vilnius, Canada. A special conference dedicated to the memory of the writer is even scheduled in the Czech capital. The BPR Rada also calls on all Belarusians in the world to organize their events for the 100th anniversary of Bykau.
