During the study of the courtyard of the Kreva Castle in the Grodna region, archaeologists found a stone foundation of a previously unknown structure. Experts believe that this may be part of the bridge.
Archaeological work is currently underway on the site next to the small gate on the southern wall of the castle. During the excavations, archaeologists noticed a foundation that most likely belongs to the castle bridge -it led from a small gate into the courtyard.
“The foundation line fully corresponds to the configuration of the bridge. And there was a castle pond in this place, so there was a need to build a stone foundation,” Aleh Dziarnovich, a researcher at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences, Candidate of Historical Sciences, told BelTA.
