The III Review of songs of national minorities of Podlasie took place in Bialystok

In a non-public primary school and kindergarten named after Saints Cyril and Methodius in Bialystok, the Third review of the song of national minorities of Podlasie “Sing together” was held.

43 participants sang songs in Belarusian, Ukrainian and Russian in front of the jury, which included representatives of the Podlaskie Opera and Philharmonic.

“This is so that children can learn our national language and the language of minorities living in Podlasie. So that they learn this language and always remember that they are Belarusians and live here. There are a lot of children this year. Children from Michalowo, Hajnowka, Bialystok and Augustow have arrived,” says Lucja Nimierowicz, co-organizer, director of the kindergarten of the non-public primary school of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Bialystok.

“We came from Michalowo to show the creativity of our children, as well as various songs – Belarusian and Ukrainian, but with an emphasis on the Belarusian language. Thanks to such reviews, there is an interest in music and creativity, children are very engaged in this. If children sing, it means that culture lives,” says Jerzy Ostapczuk, a representative of the Gminsky Cultural Center in Michalowo.

The purpose of the annual “Sing together” contest is to popularize the culture of minorities living in Podlasie, including Belarusian culture. This year, the competition was supported by the Mayor of Bialystok and the City Curatorium of Education.
