The Ministry of Culture of Poland has recognized the Bielsky ceremonial towel as an intangible heritage

The Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage has expanded the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage to include the Bielsky ceremonial towel.

The initiator of the proposal for such an introduction was Alina Dębowska-Jankiewicz, a researcher of such an element in the Podlasie region.

“It is very important for me, and not only for me, that the Bielsky ceremonial towel found its place and was included in the list of intangible heritage. A total of 107 initiatives have been included in Poland so far. This is the first record from Podlaskie voivodeship. I went through this whole process myself: I wrote an application. The members of the Podlasie Folk Craft workshop, which I founded and which works at the Bielsk House of Culture, collaborated with me,” said Alina Dębowska-Jankiewicz.
