“Shastaly and Stryki. My first world “(“Szastały i Stryki. Mój pierwszy świat”) is the name of the second book by the writer Ivona Zinkevich. The presentation took place in Bielsk-Podlaski.
She is a forester by profession, a local historian and researcher of local history by interest. The author has been running the internet page “Shastaly, history and people” for several years which contains information, memories and photographs related to her native village.
“You can say so bluntly that for two years, it was work on a book. The book is not only about people (residents from the villages of Shastaly and Stryki), but also about nature, about incidents. It’s all just there coupled together. This is not a monograph, but something that I think many readers will like. Not only people from Shestaly or Stryki will find something interesting for themselves here,” she said.
The book ” Shastaly and Stryki. My first world ” is the first in the publishing series “Small motherlands of Belarusians of Podlasie” of the association “Museum of small motherand” in the Studziwody of Dorofey Fionik.
“We called the series “Small motherlands of Belarusians of Podlasie”. In this series, books about separate areas will be published. We decided that we are creating a new series with a different graphic design. Let’s go back to nature. To the canvas, to the embossed, long-standing method of printing,” said Dorofey Fionik.
