A rally dedicated to the “Night of the Executed Poets” was held in Warsaw

Belarusians of Warsaw remembered the tragic date for the Belarusian nation “The Night of the Executed Poets.”

At a rally in the center of the Polish capital, Belarusians talked about the extermination of the Belarusian elite on the night of October 29-30, 1937 by Stalin’s executioners. On this black night, more than 100 representatives of the Belarusian intelligentsia were shot.

Vasil Pleshkunou, the organizer of the action, a member of the Association of Political Prisoners “To Freedom” and the public organization “Belarusians of Warsaw”, says: “The night of the executed poets is a black date on the pages of our history, a day of mourning, and a day of indignation, a day of sorrow and a day of disagreement, a day of hatred, and a day of love. Hatred of shameless murderers and immense pity for innocent victims. The soulless system has shown its most vile grin, its shameful essence. In order not to forget meanness, betrayal, to appreciate loyalty, loyalty, courage and dignity, we must celebrate this day every year”.

The speakers drew parallels with modern repressions in Belarus, expressed solidarity with those whom the dictator holds hostage, mocks and kills. The electoral issue was not spared either: to take part or not to take part. The thoughts were different.

The campaign ended with a shared photo.
