An action “Walls” in support of Belarusian political prisoners, timed to coincide with the Day of the Political Prisoner on May 21, took place in Warsaw on Copernicus Square. 1,380 images of political prisoners were attached to the simulated barbed wire.
A huge number of pictures attracted the attention of residents and guests of the Polish capital. The purpose of the action is not only solidarity with political prisoners, but also a reminder to Europe about the horrors that are happening in Belarus, says Pavel Latushka, Deputy head of the Joint Transitional Cabinet.
“No matter how much we talk, no matter how much we do, it won’t be enough that we do. After all, maybe someone is tired, maybe someone is lazy. But imagine that people are in terrible conditions, in terrible conditions. They suffer for us because we are free, we are abroad. We are relatively safe, but they are sitting, they are being tortured every day. We have to come to these actions, we have to shout about it, tell people,” Latushko said.
