A rally was held in Bialystok on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day

An action was held in the square of free Belarus, under the walls of the Consulate General of Belarus in Bialystok, on the occasion of the upcoming International Human Rights Day, which is celebrated on December 10.

The participants of the action told about the facts of human rights violations in Belarus, and most importantly – about the presence of political prisoners:

“Human rights are not preserved in Belarus. We need to show this to the whole world, and also that a lot of people are now behind bars.”

“Five years have passed soon, but the regime does not stop, it continues to persecute Belarusians who are abroad, and they are being tried in absentia. Our property is being taken away in Belarus. But we have to talk about our political prisoners, about whom there is no information.”

“We call on the entire world community and all people to join the struggle for the liberation of Belarusians.”

“On this day, we must also remember those people, representatives of different nationalities, who are in Belarusian prisons. This is also my colleague.”

“I do not have the right to actually enter my native land.”

Journalist Jan Roman briefly spoke about the difficulties of the National Polish Minority in Belarus, the problems of all national minorities, and also touched upon the right to education in the Belarusian language for all Belarusians. In conclusion, Roman also recalled the political prisoner Andrzej Poczobut.

Human rights activist Uladzimir Khilmanovich took the floor, who recalled the signing of the Belovezha Accords in 1991 on December 8, which brought short-term freedom. The human rights defender also recalled the complete cleansing of the legal field in Belarus and the negative influence of Russia on the development of post-soviet countries, including in the field of human rights.
