A solidarity rally with Andrzej Poczobut was held in Bialystok

Another solidarity rally with journalist and activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus Andrzej Poczobut and other Belarusian political prisoners took place near the monument to Priest Jerzy Popieluszko in Bialystok.

Andrzej has been behind bars for 41 months. Friends, colleagues and other participants of the solidarity action speak:

“The situation remains the same as it was a month ago. Further, he is in the Navapolatsk colony, in complete isolation. Nothing is happening around him there, more is happening at large.”

“Such as Andrzej Poczobut, Ales Bialiatski and many other iconic figures, they will not write a petition for clemency and it is unlikely that we will wait for their early release if public pressure, pressure from the international community on this regime does not continue.”

“I do not believe that Andrzej, like other political prisoners, should be trafficked. These people should be released immediately, as they were imprisoned without committing any crimes, but only because the dictator decided so. That’s what the people who run the country decided.””

“It may seem to us that these are absolutely insignificant meetings, this action, but in fact they are watching and seeing us. It’s like a balm on the heart sometimes.””

Andrzej Poczobut was arrested on March 25, 2021. In February 2023, he was sentenced to eight years in a high-security penal colony. He is currently serving his sentence in Navapolatsk.
