BAJ and the Belarus Press Club appealed to the Polish authorities in the Belsat case

The largest organizations of the Belarusian media sector: the Belarusian Association of Journalists and the Belarus Press Club appealed to the Polish authorities to preserve the Belsat TV channel.

“We are grateful for everything that Poland has done and is doing to support the democratic movement in Belarus and preserve the Belarusian identity. This is an eloquent testimony of Poland’s solidarity with the democratic movement of Belarus, with the people of Belarus. Thanks to the support of Poland, Belarusians today have their own independent TV channel Belsat, the prototype of the Public Television of the new Belarus, as well as a unique strong team of television professionals.

We are very concerned that as a result of the changes carried out on the TV channel, the current Belsat will turn into one of three language units that will broadcast alternately on one channel…. We are also very concerned about the fate of the channel’s employees — 17 of whom have already paid with freedom and property and now remain in Belarusian prisons,” the appeal says.
