On January 10, the trial of 53-year-old Belarusian citizen Mikalai M., who is suspected of espionage, has begun in the Lublin District Court.
Another defendant, a 59-year-old Pole, is charged with helping a Belarusian. The portal “Zerkalo” writes about this.
Mikalai M. is accused of espionage in favor of the Belarusian special services from 2018 to February 2023. According to the investigation, he conducted reconnaissance in the area of the military airfield in Biala Podlaska, collected information about the actions of Polish military aviation, railway infrastructure and the movement of equipment.
The man also allegedly obtained information about the facilities and vehicles of the Polish Internal Security Agency in Biala Podlaska.
During the interrogation, Mikalai M. admitted his guilt and confirmed the facts stated in the charges. He has been under arrest since March 2023.
The second defendant is a Pole, Bernard S. According to the investigation, he deliberately helped the Belarusian, although he believed that he could engage in espionage activities. Bernard arranged for Mikalai to stay in Poland and gave him a place to live.
Bernard S. also admitted his guilt. The court chose a preventive measure against him in the form of a ban on leaving the country and the seizure of his passport.
