The EU Court has not lifted sanctions against Belaruskali, its CEO Ivan Halavaty and the Belarusian Potash Company.
He considered the arguments of the Belarusian side insufficient. In particular, lawyers representing Belaruskali insisted that by imposing sectoral sanctions, the EU Council allegedly violated fundamental human rights and acts of international law.
Earlier, Belaruskali tried to sue Lithuania for refusing to transport potash fertilizers and billed a billion euros. Lithuania terminated the agreement on the transportation of Belarusian fertilizers for national security reasons in February 2022. The European Union and the United States imposed a ban on their exports back in 2021.
