Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna informed democratic leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya during a meeting in Tallinn about plans not to recognize the presidential elections in Belarus and his intention to transfer 30,000 euros to the fund for victims of repression of the Belarusian regime.

“The upcoming presidential elections in January 2025 are organized in an atmosphere of terror and cannot comply with democratic norms,” Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna was quoted as saying by the ministry’s press service.

During the meeting with Tsikhanouskaya, Tsahkna also noted that Western countries “should strengthen sanctions against the Lukashenka regime.” According to the diplomat, this is necessary so that “he understands that the way he sells his country and the people of Russia is unacceptable.”

The Estonian Foreign Minister noted that his country would not recognize the presidential elections in Belarus and would donate 30,000 euros to the fund for victims of repression of the Belarusian regime.

“For Estonia, the support of the Belarusian opposition and political prisoners has meant a lot for a long time, and we continue to work to ensure that all political prisoners in Belarus and Russia are released,” Tsahkna said.
