Lithuania will hand over to Ukraine three cars seized from Belarusian citizens for cigarette smuggling

Last week Lithuanian customs officers seized three cars carrying contraband cigarettes from Belarusian citizens, the agency’s press service reports.

In total, Belarusians tried to import more than 3,000 packs of cigarettes into Lithuania, and they were found by X-ray inspection in various places: in hiding places under seats, under car sills, under the front dashboard, etc.

The cost of the smuggled cigarettes was estimated at 13,573 euros. Protocols on administrative offenses have been drawn up against Belarusian citizens, and they face a fine of 2 to 6 thousand euros.

The press release says about the seizure of BMW X5, BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz cars. “Such vehicles are being transferred for the needs of Ukraine,” the agency emphasizes.
