New criminal cases against political immigrants

In Belarus, the Investigative Committee, within the framework of terror for any manifestations of political activity, reported on the next criminal cases against Belarusian political emigrants. And he declared the investigators of bullying and torture to be extremists.

Now 45 people are suspected in two cases – about the “Platform 2025 ” and the “Day of Dignity 2024”.

Let me remind you that “Platform 2025”, a framework document on the upcoming electoral campaign in Belarus in 2025, was announced at the New Belarus conference in August this year. According to the Lukashenka’s investigators, this is allegedly “a criminal plan that implies the consolidation of extremists.” In this case, 22 people were recognized as suspects under the conspiracy article.

Another 23 people were recognized as suspects in the case of the “Day of Dignity 2024”, which took place on August 9. They are accused of participating in an “extremist ” formation. According to investigators, as part of the initiative, “people’s embassies” organized “small-scale” actions in the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Finland, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Georgia and the United States.

At the same time, it is noted that as part of the investigation of the cases, investigators received information about real estate and property belonging to the suspects “on the territory of Belarus.

At the same time, on October 7, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recognized the International Committee for the Investigation of Torture in Belarus as an “extremist formation”. The corresponding decision appeared in the updated police list. By the way, this committee is a special project of the human rights organization “Legal Initiative” and was established by Belarusian and international human rights defenders.
