On December 18, Poland imposed sanctions on three more companies supplying nitrogen fertilizers from Belarus to the country.
The list includes Technospetstrading Export and Technospetstrading companies registered in Minsk, as well as LLC World Chem Trading Co., registered in Dubai.
These companies act as senders and exporters from Belarus to Poland of urea and a mixture of urea and ammonium nitrate in an aqueous or ammonia solution, but they do not produce them themselves.
The sanctions list of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration notes that the production of a mixture of urea and ammonium nitrate is possible only at “very large and expensive industrial plants, the preparation and implementation of which takes several years,” and that “it is impossible to suddenly move or organize the production of these products.” The agency concluded that the real producer of fertilizers is Grodno Azot, which has been included in the EU sanctions list since December 2, 2021.
By buying products from Grodno Azot (directly or through intermediaries) and then exporting them to Poland, these companies violate sanctions restrictions, which include a ban on the import and export of Belarusian products from sub-sanctioned entities, the report says.
The above-mentioned companies are expected to freeze all funds and economic resources, prohibit the provision of any funds or economic resources and exclude them from the Polish public procurement or competitive procedures.
