Polish Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak said that the government would delay the creation of a buffer zone on the border with Belarus. The zone was supposed to be formed on June 4, but due to a delay in planning, this topic will be returned at the end of the week, reports rmf24.pl.
“We are working on the decision of the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration in accordance with what the Prime Minister announced last Wednesday. We do not expect this decision to be made tomorrow. We want to have a little more time, a few days, to consult with local governments, the national park and public organizations,” Tomasz Siemoniak said.
The Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration ordered to continue negotiations with the Podlaskie voivode. “We want this solution, which is proposed by the border guard service, the police and the army, to take into account the interests of the local population and local entrepreneurs as much as possible,” the politician added.
Siemoniak said that the government has now adopted a “flexible formula for the distance from the border”, which should take into account the interests of various subjects.
