Poland strengthens border with Belarus and Russia

The Polish Ministry of Defense announced the completion of work on the first section of fortifications under construction on the border with Belarus and Russia. The Polish authorities are building them as part of the Eastern Shield project.

The agency has published photos of what the fortifications look like. The exact location of their location is not disclosed, but it is noted that the work was carried out “along strategically important crossings.”

The images show that the fortifications include physical barriers such as concrete anti-tank hedgehogs.

The Polish Ministry of Defense announced the “acceleration of work to strengthen the security of the state border.” So far, additional elements of the fortifications have been installed on a small 2.3 km section. But preparations are already underway for the construction of the second stage.

The work is carried out in cooperation with the Baltic States. The construction is also supported by allies from Finland, Great Britain and the USA. As noted in Warsaw, the country’s new national defense program is “a response to modern threats,” and its main goal is “deterring a potential aggressor.”
