Belarus continues to ban the import of certain goods from “unfriendly countries.” These “counter-sanctions” will be in effect until December 31, 2025. The relevant document was signed by Prime Minister Raman Galouchanka.
The mentioned list of goods includes individual products from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic and Estonia. The list includes, among other things, beer, skin care products, hair products, shaving products, deodorants, soap, men’s textile clothing, shoes with uppers made of genuine leather, bedding, tableware. The import and sale of water, including mineral and carbonated water, is prohibited. It is also prohibited to label alcoholic beverages imported into the Republic of Belarus on the territory of “unfriendly countries”.
Since the beginning of 2022, food “counter—sanctions” have been in effect in Belarus, also in response to Western sanctions. However, not all imported products can be replaced with domestic ones. As a result, the Government has “forcibly” created a list of exemptions from the food embargo and is expanding it.
