Charge d’affaires of Ukraine in Belarus Olga Timush was handed a note with a “strong protest” in connection with the alleged “violation of the border” of Belarus by a “group of unmanned aerial vehicles launched from the territory of Ukraine.” The leader of the Belarusian democratic forces Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya called such words a provocation.
This is what the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus reports. The official Minsk demanded “to take comprehensive measures to exclude in the future such incidents that could lead to further escalation of the situation in the region.”
Timush was warned “that in case of repetition of such provocations, the Belarusian side reserves the right to take retaliatory steps to protect its territory”.
In addition, the message says that the Belarusian side may raise the question of the expediency of the continued presence of the country’s diplomatic mission in Minsk.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has not yet commented on the situation.
In turn, the leader of the Belarusian democratic forces Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, called Lukashenka’s statement about the destroyed Ukrainian drones a provocation. In her opinion, this is an attempt to distract Ukrainian forces from important areas at the front.
