The buffer zone regime on the border with Belarus has been extended in Poland

The Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration signed an order on the introduction of a temporary ban on staying in a certain territory in the border area adjacent to the state border with the Republic of Belarus.

The buffer zone is effective, so it has been extended for another 90 days. The new decree came into force today on March 10. This is reported on the website of the Polish Border Guard Service.

A temporary ban on staying in the border area guarantees the safety of border guards, police and military personnel. The lengthening of the buffer zone will also make it easier to modernize the fence and limit the activities of smuggling groups.

The Border Service indicates that the number of attempts to illegally cross the Belarusian-Polish border has decreased recently.

Thus, after almost 267 days of its operation, the number of attempts to illegally cross the Belarusian-Polish border has decreased by about 46%. From June 13, 2024 to March 6, 2025, more than 12.7 thousand such attempts were registered. During the same period, before the zone was introduced, there were almost 23.5 thousand of them.

The ban on staying in a certain territory in the border zone adjacent to the state border with the Republic of Belarus has been in effect since June 13, 2024.
