The Court of Appeal in Belgrade considered the case of Belarusian Andrei Gnyot

On August 27, the Court of Appeal in Belgrade considered the case of Belarusian Andrei Gnyot. The meeting has been completed, but the decision on whether the political refugee will be extradited to Belarus or not will have to wait up to 30 days. The court will consider the materials received.

Gnyot is the director of TV commercials and music videos, as well as the co-founder of the free association of athletes SOS BY, which was declared an “extremist formation” in the Republic of Belarus. He left Belarus for political reasons. In October 2023, he was detained in Serbia on an Interpol warrant: the Lukashenko regime declared oppression on the international wanted list, accusing him of tax evasion.

The political defector spent seven months in a Serbian prison, then he was transferred to house arrest. The Supreme Court of Serbia decided to extradite Andrei Gnyot to Belarus, but he and his lawyer appealed this decision. Various Belarusian and international organizations defended the nest.
