The Lukashenka regime asks to lift economic sanctions

Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Yury Ambrazevich called on western countries to lift sanctions, as they contradict international commitments in the field of sustainable development. The official Minsk also recognized the increasing technological gap with developed countries.

“We urge to abandon the use of unilateral restrictions that not only contradict international obligations, including in the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, but also run counter to the provisions of the UN Charter and relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly,” the state agency BelTA quoted Yury Ambrazevich.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus spoke at the international conference “Strengthening the potential of the Republic of Belarus to achieve Sustainable Development Goals: strategies and partnerships in the context of modern challenges and the climate agenda”, which takes place in the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park “Great Stone”.

“We call on everyone to recognize and ensure in practice the right of each country to access food, fertilizers, energy, and other resources, including technologies at an acceptable, reasonable price. This will be the real content of the UN slogan “leave no one behind,”” he added.

According to him, this will “reduce the technological and economic development gap between the “golden billion” and the other world and will prevent many future conflicts.”

It should be recalled that economic sanctions were imposed on the Lukashenka regime due to the pirate hijacking of an airplane in 2021 and complicity in Russian aggression against Ukraine.
