The military operation codenamed “Safety Podlasie” provides for increased military assistance to border guards in the border zone, where aggressive actions of illegal migrants are recorded.
17 thousand soldiers are taking part in the operation, of which 8 thousand will serve directly on the border, and 9 thousand will be included in the strategic reserve. The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces will be responsible for planning, conducting and managing the operation.
According to the organizers, “provocations on the Polish-Belarusian border are organized by the Russian and Belarusian dictatorial regimes. They are part of a hybrid war being waged against Ukraine’s allies. Attempts to forcibly cross the Polish-Belarusian border have been continuing with varying intensity since 2021.”
