The Polish government did not give the border guards a “license to kill”

The paragraph on the absence of punishment for the use of weapons contrary to the rules was excluded from the text of amendments to the law, which should simplify the protection of the border with Belarus by the Polish military.

The original text of the amendments, where this paragraph was, was strongly criticized by human rights activists, calling the document a “license to kill.” The text of the amendments will still have to be considered by the Sejm.

Poland started talking about expanding the possibilities of using weapons on the border with Belarus after the death of soldier Mateusz Sitek: he died from a knife wound inflicted on migrants at the border.
