A Belarusian taxi driver was beaten up in Warsaw – he was mistaken for a Ukrainian

In Warsaw, passengers attacked a taxi driver from Belarus: one of the guys hit him on the head, and the girls spat on him.

According to the Most newspaper, the conflict occurred on January 3.

During the incident, the attackers called the taxi driver a “Ukrainian pig” and asked “why not at war” — for some reason the passengers decided that he was Ukrainian. Although the man said that he was not from Ukraine.

The attack was stopped by car signals: a patrol was passing nearby. The police called an ambulance. The conducted studies have shown the absence of serious injuries to the taxi driver.

The Belarusian has already filed a police report and contacted the Ponad podziałami foundation, where they helped him file a complaint. He hopes that the case will draw attention to the problem of xenophobia and the safety of taxi drivers.
