The conference ”Cooperation – Innovation – Sustainable Tourism” has started at the Eastern European Academy of Applied Sciences in Bialystok.
Among the active participants are representatives of local government and self-government.
“Our region has everything for tourism. Since June, even earlier, we have done everything to show the Poles, the Europeans that Podlasie is a safe region, there is a region that can show a lot in terms of tourism. For example, I like the tourism of silence, which is becoming more and more in demand in our world,” said voivode of Podlasie Jacek Brzozowski.
Katarzyna Sadowska, Director of the Tourism Department of the Marshal’s Office of Podlaskie Voivodeship, was awarded the badge “For Merits in the Field of Tourism” during the conference.
“The situation with tourism in Podlasie is difficult. Tourism is in crisis. Especially from the point of view of the difficult situation on the Polish-Belarusian border. And from what we observe in the statistics of hotels, cafes in the area of Bialowieza Forest and completely in the voivodeship, we observe a serious decline. We are trying to support the tourism industry, we have a number of special programs,” Sadowska said.
During the conference, participants have the opportunity to listen to lectures from professionals. Among the topics: the latest technologies supporting the development of tourism; analysis of the state of implementation of sustainable tourism in Podlaskie voivodeship, as well as examples of successful tourism practices – both from the region and from around the world.
