Following the results of the international scientific and practical conference “The Belarusian language and linguistics: state, challenges, practical measures”, which completed its work in Bialystok, the Declaration on the establishment of the Institute of the Belarusian Language was adopted by the general decision of its participants.
According to Pavel Barkouski, Deputy representative for National Revival of the Joint Transitional Cabinet, the project “does not aim to oppose official structures like the Institute of Linguistics, which continues to work in Belarus, but cares about the continuity and expansion of tradition, creates a guarantee of public participation in determining the fate of the Belarusian language in the future.”

“Such things as, for example, language consultations, codification, monitoring and approval of neoplasms or the development of Belarusian-language terminology can be used by Belarusians both inside and outside the country. We hope that the numerous developments made with the participation of the staff of the future institute will have an effective impact on changing the language situation in the country and expanding the role of the Belarusian language around the world,” Barkouski told “Pozirk”.
An organizing committee has also been elected to deal with this issue.
