On May 15 the Polish Sejm voted in favor of amendments to the law on education concerning assistance to citizens of Ukraine. At the same time, the amendments may also contribute to the citizens of Belarus, the RAR news agency reported.
The adopted amendments relate to a four-month extension of the deadline for submitting applications for the conditional right to practice the professions of a doctor, dentist, nurse and midwife, TVN24 notes.
The amendments relate, among other things, to the recognition of certificates of citizens of countries that have denounced the international agreement with Poland on their mutual recognition. And this is Belarus, whose authorities canceled the interstate agreement on October 25, 2022.
381 deputies voted for the amendments, 19 were against, 20 abstained.
Polish Deputy Minister of Education Jaana Mucha noted that the amendment is related to the recent termination of the issuance of school graduation certificates by Belarus to its citizens abroad, which makes it impossible for these people to study in Poland. She added that it could be about 5,000 Belarusian citizens.
On May 11 it became known that the Ministry of Education of Belarus had stopped accepting applications for certificates confirming the legality of certificates. Such certificates were requested by some foreign universities when admitting Belarusian citizens.
Later it became officially known that the Ministry of Education stopped issuing certificates indicating that the school that the applicant is graduating from can issue state-issued documents. Such a document is also requested by some Polish institutions of higher education when admitting applicants.
Earlier Aliaksandr Lukashenka has repeatedly stated that in Belarus it is necessary to increase the time for working out the distribution after university, as well as to stop the departure of Belarusian youth abroad.
