Belarus is among the largest suppliers of fertilizers to Poland

In the 2022/2023 season, the share of imports from Russia and Belarus in the Polish fertilizer market reached 56%.

In the first half of 2024, Russia is the largest foreign supplier of nitrogen and potash fertilizers to Poland. Its share accounted for almost a third of all imports of these products to Poland, the website wiescirolnicze.pl reports with reference to the Departments of agriculture and rural development.

The page reminds that international sanctions do not include, among other things, fertilizers that are imported from both Russia and Belarus. At the same time, imports doubled last year. In the 2022/2023 season, the share of imports from Russia and Belarus in the Polish fertilizer market reached 56%. And, as the latest data show, fertilizers from Russia also predominate in total Polish imports this year.

Meanwhile, according to the website, representatives of the fertilizer sector have already warned that a further increase in fertilizer imports from Russia and Belarus could lead to the displacement of Polish producers from the market, and after the liquidation of their own production, an increase in fertilizer prices.
