Belarus took the 35th place in terms of English language proficiency according to the rating of the Swedish company Education First.
In total, the rating assessed the level of English proficiency among residents of 116 countries. The compilers of the rating tested the language skills of 2.1 million residents of large cities.
The results are divided into five categories: a very high level of English proficiency (there are only nine countries in this category), just a high level, as well as medium, low and very low. Belarus was included in the list of countries with an average level of English proficiency, but took one of the top places in it.
Poland and Lithuania occupy the top positions, Russia and Ukraine are below Belarus.
The three leaders are the Netherlands, Norway and Singapore.
