Employees of the Podlasie State Tax Administration stopped cigarette smuggling at the railway border crossing in Siemianowka.
A freight train entering Poland from Belarus was scanned by customs and tax service officers. The analysis showed that contraband cigarettes could be hidden in one of the forty railway tank cars of the train.
The car was checked. Customs officers removed cardboard boxes containing 5,000 packs of Belarusian cigarettes from a tank with liquid synthetic resin. Their market value was estimated at 85 thousand zlotys.
The train crew was questioned. The cigarettes arrived at the warehouse of the Customs Office in Siemianowka. A criminal case has been opened in the case of smuggling.
