The Polish police, together with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Poland, the University of Wroclaw, the Dutch police and the border guard, are conducting an information campaign on combating trafficking in Podlasie. Bielsk Podlaski became the first place for the educational action.
Escapetruck is used to create an atmosphere in which victims of trafficking live. It is an equipped trap-the dwelling of persons who have fallen into sexual slavery. To get out of the ”trap”, one needs to complete a special quest game.
“We invited high school youth from all over the county to participate so that they could participate, solve riddles and see what conditions people who find themselves in such situations are in. It shows not only something tangible, such as furniture, but you can also hear voices or an unpleasant smell so that young people can feel it comprehensively,” says the press officer of the Belsk police, Agnieszka Dabrowska.
The organizers of the action also note that it is better for young people to experience the horrors of the conditions in which victims of trafficking are in such an interactive form than to learn this from their own experience in the future.
“These feelings received here will remain in the memory. The feelings you can get inside are real enough and give you something to think about. I hope the youth will remember this in order to avoid such incidents,” she says.
The Escapetruck project, developed by the Dutch Reshape Foundation, is part of an educational campaign to raise awareness of the risks and dangers of trafficking. After Bielsk Podlaski, the project moved to Grajewo.
