A 30-year-old German citizen, Rico Krieger, was sentenced in the Minsk Regional Court. According to his linkedin page, the man was a Red Cross military doctor.
In Belarus, he was charged under six serious articles of the Criminal Code, including “mercenary activity” and “act of terrorism”.
According to the telegram channel @motolkohelp, according to the results of the trial, he was sentenced to the death penalty by firing squad.
It is known that Rico previously worked as a special security officer at the State Department of USA in Berlin. After this position, he moved into the healthcare sector, worked as a male nurse.
According to Human Right Center “Viasna”, Rico Krieger was found guilty of “committing an explosion in order to influence decision-making by authorities, intimidate the population, destabilize public order (an act of terrorism) committed by a person who had previously committed a crime, an organized group.
On the basis of it, Krieger was given an exceptional measure of punishment in the form of the death penalty (execution).
Human rights activists also learned that the case of a military doctor concerns the Kalinouski regiment, namely its structural unit – the foreign mechanized battalion “Western”.
