Another attack on a Polish border guard by illegal migrants on the Belarusian side of the border took place on the evening of June 3. The soldier’s skull was fractured.
The border guard also has a damaged eye socket, there is a risk that “the eye will not be able to be saved,” writes Dziennik Gazeta Prawna. Doctors assess the border guard’s condition as serious, he is in the hospital.
Attacks by migrants from the Belarusian territory on Polish military and border guards were also reported on May 28 and 31.
Illegal migrants, mainly from the Middle East, are purposefully brought to Belarus, from where they try to enter the European Union mainly through the border with Poland. The move is seen as part of a broader strategy to destabilize the EU and put pressure on its countries.
