Due to yesterday’s bad weather in Belarus, 1960 settlements were without power supply. As recently as this morning, restoration work was carried out in 1,263 settlements. This is reported by the Ministry of Energy.
The Homel region suffered the most, where there were casualties. In total, four people died in Belarus from falling trees and roof elements, two of whom were children, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reports.
The reason for the fall of trees and branches on power lines, their breakage, damage to supports, were heavy rain, hail, squally wind speeds of up to 30 meters per second, energy experts say.
Most of the electricity losses were in the Homel and Mahilyow regions. The most affected areas were Mozyr, Rechytsa, Homel, Kalinkavichy, Petrikau, Zhlobin, Bykhau, Cherykau, Mahilyow districts.
According to the chairman of the Homel Regional Executive Committee Ivan Krupko, Mozyr, Yelsk, Kalinkavichy, Lelchytsy and Naroulya remained without electricity this morning. An emergency situation has been declared in the region.
So, in Mozyr there are six points where you can take water, but in local chat rooms they complain that this is very little, they write “Strong news”. Little by little, smartphones that are difficult to charge are turning into useless devices. The Mozyrans are worried that they cannot contact their loved ones.
