In Kyiv, they said goodbye to Przemyslaw Rasiewicz-Kuczynski, who fought in Kalinouski’s regiment

On August 13, a farewell ceremony was held in the capital of Ukraine with a Polish citizen of Belarusian origin, Przemyslaw Rasiewicz-Kuczynski, a soldier of the Belarusian Kastus Kalinouski regiment and the International Legion, who died at the front in the war with Russia.

“Przemek fought faithfully for Ukraine’s right to freedom,” “thank you for fighting for our lives and the future of Ukraine,” they said at the ceremony.

The farewell ceremony, attended by the family of the deceased from Poland, was held with the participation of the military guard of honor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the Baykov cemetery – the largest necropolis of the Ukrainian capital. Representatives of Polish diplomacy in Ukraine were present.

There were three flags on the coffin with the warrior’s body: Belarusian, Polish and Ukrainian. At the end, the anthems of Ukraine and Poland and the Belarusian patriotic song “chase” were played. A salvo of honor thundered on all fours of the Russian-Kuczynski.

36-year-old Przemyslaw Rasiewicz-Kuczynski was a Polish citizen with Belarusian roots. He was born in 1988, educated and grew up in Gdynia. He is known for his social activities and volunteering. In September 2022, he joined Kastus Kalinouski’s regiment as a volunteer. He took part in the battles for Bakhmut, Arikhiv, Kharkiv and Chesiv Yar.

He died on August 6 while performing a combat mission. According to his last will, he will be buried at the military cemetery on the Field of Mars in Lviv. Funeral ceremonies will be held there today.
