A Belarusian citizen has been arrested in Poland on suspicion of running a group that illegally trafficked people to the EU under the Poland Business Harbour program.

Polish law enforcement officers have charged a 26-year-old Belarusian with leading a criminal group whose purpose was to organize illegal migration of foreigners to the EU by crossing the border with Poland in violation of the law, the Polish Border Service reports.

The Belarusian led a group of 30 people – Poles, Belarusians and Ukrainians. All of them are accused of participating in the organization of illegal crossing of the Polish border, in respect of four of them the court issued a decision on temporary arrest.

In its activities, the group used companies that did not conduct any business activities and forged documents to obtain visas, among them visas under the Poland Business Harbour program.

The activities of the group became known from the Consulate General of Poland in Brest. “It has been established that an organized criminal group managed to organize the illegal crossing of the border of at least 2,000 people,” the report says.
