A Belarusian was sentenced to 34 months in prison for espionage for Moscow

The District Court in Lublin sentenced Belarusian citizen Uladzislau P. to 2 years and 10 months in prison, the RMF24 radio portal reported.

The man was also fined 10 thousand zlotys (about 2.8 thousand dollars). Separately, 8.2 thousand zlotys (about 2.1 thousand dollars) received as “payment for criminal activity” were recovered from him.

Maxim L., a citizen of Ukraine, who was in the same case, was imprisoned for 6 years. The fine and the amount of funds received to be recovered are 15 thousand and 20.5 thousand zlotys, respectively (about 3.9 thousand and 5.4 thousand dollars).

The convicts must also pay 5,000 zlotys (1.3 thousand dollars) to the Victim Assistance Fund.

The case of the group accused of espionage in favor of Russia involved 16 people, including three citizens of Belarus. On December 19, 2023, the District Court in Lublin sentenced 14 defendants to imprisonment (Belarusian citizen Maria M. received the least punishment – 1 year and 1 month in prison).

The cases of Belarusian Uladzislau P. and Ukrainian Maxim L. were separated into separate proceedings.
