Independent Belarusian chess player Uladzislau Kavaliou has gained the opportunity to compete at the European Chess Championship.
In September Belarusian Sports Solidarity Fund (BSSF) called for the support of Belarusian grandmaster Uladzislau Kavaliou for the performance of the European Chess Championship 2024 in Montenegro. As a result, the grandmaster achieved an incredible result and qualified for the Championship.
“Pretty good results. This is the 20th place among almost 400 participants. All chess fans congratulate Uladzislau. He actually withstood the competition, and we can say that this is a successful public step. It is necessary to consider this Kavaliou case more from the point of view that it is an initiative to support an athlete who took part in the European Championship. Naturally, if such things happen, then the society is pleased that it was not some kind of money given in vain,” said the initiator of the support, Executive director of the Fund Aliaksandr Apeikin.
The Athletes for Freedom Foundation also helped raise funds for Uladzislau Kavaliou – an amount of $ 2,000.
