In 2024, the Polish Border Guard Service identified 10,689 foreigners who illegally worked or engaged in economic activities in the country. This is 7% more than in 2023.
Among the identified foreigners, as noted by the MOST edition, there were 902 Belarusians. This is slightly more than in 2023, when border guards identified 864 Belarusians who worked illegally.
Most often, border guards caught citizens of Ukraine (4,576 cases), Georgia (1,122), Colombia (1,082) at illegal work. Moreover, the number of Ukrainians in shadow employment has decreased by 26% over the past year, while the number of Colombians caught doing the same has increased 5.3 times.
Illegal employment is growing mainly due to immigrants from Asia, Africa and Latin America. In addition to Colombians, citizens of Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Nepal, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Nigeria are prominent in this area.
