On Monday, December 2, a letter of intent was signed in Bialystok on the entry of the local government into the coalition for electronic security, which has been operating in Podlasie since April 2024. Its main goal is to limit the negative impact of cybercrime on the daily lives of residents of the region.
“During the three quarters of 2024, 87 digital frauds occurred, as a result of which the residents of Podlasie lost almost 5 million zlotys. We managed to return only 120 thousand zlotys of this amount,” says the initiator of the coalition, Podlaskie voivode Jacek Brzozowski.
The letter of intent from the local government was signed by Marshal of Podlaskie voivodeship Lukasz Prokorym.
“Global development shows that crimes such as theft and slander are now taking place on the Internet. And we, as the government, have a public duty to protect our residents from such dangers,” he said.
The Coalition for Electronic Security, led by Voivode Jacek Brzozowski, is a multidisciplinary one. It unites not only local government and self-government bodies, but also public services, radio, television and universities of the city.
